About the team

Jane Zhang, CEO

Jane is a design researcher, entrepreneur, and lifelong learner. She believes in people-powered data to design learning spaces, and brings 10 years of experience working with youth in a variety of environments, from media classrooms to temperate rainforests. Prior to designing learning spaces, Jane worked in journalism, urban planning, and clean technology. She holds a Master of Design Studies from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and a B.A. & Sc. in Sustainability and English Literature from McGill University. Grace O'Shea, COO

Grace is a New York City public school teacher turned education entrepreneur. As a 6th and 8th grade science teacher, she used design thinking at the classroom and school level, leading her public middle school towards a future state design. Grace co-founded room2learn in order to provide every student with a learning space to match their learning needs. She loves female comediennes, camping and talking about the future of school.

Ryan Leaf, CTO

Ryan is an entrepreneur, technologist, and software engineer who is passionate about the intersection of technology and education. At room2learn, Ryan leads product development and technical strategy. Previously, Ryan was a software architect at Doorbell - a Harvard Innovation Labs startup - which is working to build community in apartment buildings. He is also the founder and CEO of Minsilo, a company that is helping product teams spend more time on building great products and less time on emails, meetings, and interruptions. Ryan received his B.S. in Management Information Systems from WPI.

Wiliam Yao, Web Developer

William Yao is a software engineer and violinist hailing from Rhode Island. At room2learn, he works on product development and software design. He is also a Project Manager at The Harvard Crimson and the Head of Social for MakeHarvard. William performs regularly with the Brattle Street Chamber Players and the Harvard Radcliffe Orchestra. He is currently pursuing a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at Harvard and is a graduate of the Juilliard School Precollege Division. Andy Ng, User Experience & Education Specialist

Andy is an educator, storyteller, and designer looking to understand how to build more equitable spaces for learning. At room2learn, he helps with user experience and educational strategy. Andy is a previous startup founder and has worked in college access, finance, and most recently, was a Project Manager at Google. Andy received his B.A. in English with honors from NYU in 2015. He is a Gates Millennium Scholar, Dalai Lama Fellow, and Startingbloc Fellow. He is currently pursuing his Ed.M in Technology & Innovation at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Talk to him about Thai food, professional tennis, and race & identity.

Coco Yang, Marketing Associate

Coco is a content creator and media user interested in the merging of education and both physical and digital spaces. At room2learn, she manages the social media platforms and writes for the blog. Previously, she has interned with luxury hotels in HR and marketing. She is a B.Sc. candidate in hotel management at Cornell University. In her free time, Coco can be found traveling to new destinations, listening to music, and exploring new restaurants.
